Hornets Continue Winning Streak In Final Match of Regular Season Against ATCC

By Dominick Matarese |

The Hornets Overwatch team has finished the regular season with a winning record of 6-2, after their victory over Alexandria Technical and Community College tonight. The final score was 3-1 with many close rounds, a noticeable improvement in ATCC’s performance, who the Hornet’s swept 3-0 earlier in the season. This should give the Hornets momentum as they head into playoffs.

The team said they expected ATCC to improve, and noted that they put up a good fight. After the match the team was excited to be playoff bound, and said they would prepare by practicing more, focusing on new team compositions, focusing on adaptability, and mentally preparing to face tougher teams. Michael Willard said “If you can shut down what makes a team composition work before they can get feel for the game. You’ll be able to keep early momentum much easier, taking a few team fights and possibly a point before the opposing team can get a foothold again.” The team said that they were not surprised by the results of their regular season. They said they specifically wanted to make playoffs and had worked to make that a reality.

After the match, the players chose Quentin Riedman as the MVP, for his performance as Reinhardt. They specifically pointed to a play where he was able to use the earth shatter ability to get behind ATCC’s defense and take multiple players out.

The match was streamed on twitch.tv, with many fans showing their support for the team. Future playoff games will also be streamed on twitch.tv.
