LUMA; lighting up Binghamton 2021

Written by Emily Squires ||

LUMA returns to Binghamton this September 10th & 11th. The LUMA Projections Art Festival represents the works of hundreds of artists worldwide. 3D animations are projected onto Binghamton’s historic buildings, like city hall and the courthouse; creatively tying history and future together. The event begins at 8:30pm and runs until 9:45pm.

Previous LUMA events have hosted symphonies, cartoonists, artificial intelligence, and live motion actors. 2021 is to hold four main features projected onto different buildings; “Cheerful Nightmares”, “Firefly”, “Cosmogonia”, & “Duet in AI”.

A SUNY Broome student and attendant of LUMA2018 describes the festival as, “a lively, colorful event full of inspiration and hope. It fills the streets of Binghamton in a way many have not seen before, with art, music, and life. I seriously recommend taking your friends, whether from the area or not, it is definitely an opportunity not to be missed.”
