About the Fulcrum

What The Club Is:

The Fulcrum is SUNY Broome’s student run newspaper. We are a club of talented students from various majors, from communication, to business, and beyond. We operate independently from SUNY Broome’s administration, and always strive to do great journalism, keep our campus informed, and hold truth to power.

Who We Are:

Dominick Matarese has served as the President of the Fulcrum since the Fall 2019 semester. He is an aspiring journalist, and is currently interning at SUNY Broome’s Marketing and Communication Department, as well as doing freelance journalism for the Owego Pennysaver.

His interests include skiing and snowboarding, going to the gym, playing guitar, sketching, and listening to music. His favorite topics to write about are music and politics.

Chris Keaty has served as the advisor to the Fulcrum since its revival in 2018. He is responsible for dispensing invaluable advice, informing the club on how to navigate campus politics, generating story ideas, and overall helping student’s become great journalists.

Chris is a professor of Communications and Media Arts at SUNY Broome, and has previously worked as a broadcast director at WICZ Fox 40. He graduated from SUNY Broome, SUNY Oswego, and Syracuse University.
